Interruption to Hertz Gold Service at Melbourne Airport

Due to a serious vehicle theft incident at Melbourne Airport on Saturday, which posed a direct risk to public safety, both the Airport Authority and the Australian Federal Police have advised that we are not permitted  to leave keys in any of our vehicles until further notice. This ban does unfortunately mean that we are unable to offer “Canopy Service”, whereby Gold members by-pass our counters and proceed directly to the vehicle in their allocated Hertz bay.

The Airport Authority is in discussions with the AFP and will provide further details to us in the coming days, however In the interim, Gold members will be required to collect their keys and paperwork from the Hertz booth in the Hertz section of the main car park.

We are conscious that speed of service is a high priority to our Gold members and as such we have allocated additional resources to ensure as little disruption to our business as possible, however we would ask you to please advise travelers to allocate extra time when collecting over the coming weeks.
